Research into the Psychosocial Functions of Food

“Food” is a source of nutrition and mealtimes are used to give a rhythm to daily life, in addition to helping to build healthy bodies. What is more, food can be a source of happiness or enjoyment in the daily life cycle and it functions also to create communication opportunities between friends and families. This research aims to clarify what psychological and social functions food can have for elderly people and elucidate what obstructions there are to food functioning in psychosocial ways, and how to promote these functions.
